Chelsi Tashaleen Shikongo is a Namibian beauty queen, model, comedian and activist. Her heritage is a mix of two Namibian tribes namely Kwanayama and Otjiherero.

Shikongo is passionate about sex education. Here are 13 more things about her:

  1. She was born in Swakopmund, Erongo, Namibia and raised in Walvis Bay, Namibia. She is the eldest of six children.
  2. She speaks Afrikaans and English. She also studied Portuguese and German.
  3. In 2010, she started modelling with LC’s Models, a modeling school in Walvis Bay. In 2011, she left the school and started working as a freelance model.
  4. From 2010 to 2014, she attended Kuisebmond Secondary School in Walvis Bay.
  5. In 2013, she auditioned for the Trustco Star Performer talent competition and made it to bootcamp for models where she was first introduced to Boss Models Agency. However, she failed to make it to the final part of the competition because of her school examinations.
  6. In February 2015, she started a youth empowerment campaign called I Can Say No, which promotes abstinence to minimize the rate of teenage pregnancies and prevent unwanted pregnancies through effective communication programs in Namibia.
  7. In 2016, she entered a Facebook competition called Be A Boss, which was run by Truworths SA and Boss Models Cape Town. From June 2016 to September 2016, she worked as a Style Retail LTD cashier.
  8. In May 2017, she joined Boss Models Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa as a model.
  9. In September 2018, she joined Most Wanted Models Agency Germany as a model.
  10. In 2019, she moved to Cape Town to focus on her career as a model. In the same year, she was in Milan, Italy for the city’s fashion week, did a campaign for SM Mall of Asia in the Philippines and an ad for Skip South Africa and worked for Pringle of Scotland and Mr Price South Africa.
  11. She was 23 years old when she won Miss Namibia 2021 on June 5, 2021 in Windhoek, Namibia. Before winning the title, she worked for First National Bank, Sorbet, Spree, Style Magazine, Truworths and Woolworths as a model.
  12. On December 12, 2021, she represented Namibia at Miss Universe 2021 and competed against 79 other candidates in Eilat, Israel. She was unplaced.
  13. On August 12, 2022, she crowned her successor Miss Namibia 2022 Cassia Sharpley in Windhoek.
