Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu is an Indian actor, model and beauty queen who advocates for mental health. She attended Shivalik Public School and Post Graduate Government College for Girls, which are both in Chandigarh, India.

Born and raised in Chandigarh in a Sikh family, Sandhu is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and English. Her father Pritampal Singh Sandhu is a realtor and her mother Rabinder Kaur Sandhu is a gynecologist.

Harnaaz is 5’9″ tall. She enjoys acting, singing, dancing, yoga, swimming, horse riding and cooking.

Before becoming Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz was Timesfreshface Miss Chandigarh 2017, Miss Max Emerging Star 2018 India and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. She is the third Miss Universe from India.

“I was bullied for gaining weight,” Harnaaz said when she was interviewed by People in her apartment in New York City, New York, United States on August 4, 2022. “It was kind of uncomfortable and really surprising for me to see how people started having their opinions, which should not really matter.”

3. On July 8, 2018, she auditioned for Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2018 Chandigarh at Golden Tulip Chandigarh in Panchkula, Haryana, India. She was a finalist. 
4. On June 15, 2019, she represented Punjab at Femina Miss India 2019 and competed against 29 other candidates at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai, India. She finished in the Top 12.
5. She was featured in the music video of The Landers’ song “Tarhthalli“, which was released in October 2019.
6. While pursuing her master’s degree in public administration, she represented Chandigarh at Miss Diva 2021 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mumbai and competed against 19 other finalists on September 30, 2021. She won the title, making her India’s Miss Universe 2021 candidate.
7. She was featured in the music video of “Bewajah“, which was released on November 9, 2021.
8. On December 12, 2021, she represented India at Miss Universe 2021, competed against 79 other candidates in Eilat, Israel and won the crown.
9. On April 30, 2022, she served as a judge at Miss Universe Philippines 2022 in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
10. On June 25, 2022, she served as a judge at Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
11. On August 13, 2022, she served as a judge at Miss South Africa 2022 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. She starred in the Punjabi film “Bai Ji Kuttange“, which was released in India on August 19, 2022. On August 28, 2022, she crowned her successor Miss Universe India 2022 Divita Rai in Mumbai.
12. On January 14, 2023, she crowned her successor Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
13. She was 23 years old when she travelled to Jaipur, Rajasthan, India on August 5, 2023 to meet Princess Gauravi Kumari and the women behind the Princess DiyaKumari Foundation.
