The Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia is a British overseas territory in Western Asia. The territory provides a vital strategic part of the United Kingdom surveillance gathering network in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Located on the island of Cyprus, the areas include British military bases and installations. In 1960, the London and Zürich Agreements created the areas as Cyprus achieved independence from the British Empire.
