Norfolk Island is an external territory of Australia in Oceania. The territory is located in the Pacific Ocean between New Caledonia and New Zealand.

On November 1, 1856, Norfolk Island separated from Tasmania, a British colony that existed from 1856 to 1901. On July 1, 1914, the island was transferred to Australia.

Eric Hutchinson, 56, is the incumbent administrator of Norfolk Island. He assumed office on April 1, 2017.
