Kenneth Miles, 34, of Chicago, Illinois, United States is a six-time convicted felon with a pending felony drug case. His girlfriend’s aunt Yolanda Talley, 49, is the chief of internal affairs of the Chicago Police Department.

At around 2 p.m. on February 20, 2019, Miles was arrested in the Harrison District in Chicago. As a confidential informant, he gave a Chicago address to the Chicago Police Department, which he claimed to be crime suspect Andy L. Simpson‘s residence.

On February 21, 2019, the department’s officers raided the address, which turned out to be the residence of Anjanette Young, 51. Among the officers were Alain Aporongao, Alex J. Wolinski and the late Ella French.

In December 2020, Miles attended a bail hearing before Cook County Judge John Lyke to be charged with a felony distribution of heroin case. At the time, Miles was on parole for his fifth felony narcotics conviction since 2010 and had a pending felony case for manufacturing and delivering heroin.

Lyke ordered Miles held on $50,000 bail and ordered the defendant to go onto electronic monitoring if he posted the 10 percent deposit necessary to get out of jail. The judge ordered the defendant held without bail for violating the bond terms in the pending drug case.

Prosecutors dropped both cases and Miles was released. In January 2021, prosecutors indicted him on the first drug case again and a judge ordered him to show up in court, which he failed to do.

Since then, Miles has been arrested three more times. He has also been released on recognizance bonds and a deposit of $1,500.

Talley was deputy chief of recruitment and retention in the Chicago Police Department. In December 2021, she was promoted to chief of internal affairs.

On February 1, 2022, a four-door silver Lexus registered to Talley was pulled over on North St. Louis Avenue in Chicago. She was not in the car.

Wearing a black mask, Miles picked up a bag near a black sport utility vehicle and entered the passenger side of the Lexus, according to the Chicago Police Department. His girlfriend, who is Talley’s niece, drove the car and made a left turn without using a turn signal.

Chicago Police Department officers recovered about 42 grams of heroin worth about $6,300 from a Ziploc bag Miles tossed out of the window of the Lexus. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The officers involved in Miles’ arrest have not been allowed to go back on the street, a source told Chicago Sun Times. Meanwhile, he is set to appear in court on February 25, 2022.
