Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yacé named Miss World 2021 second runner-up in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Olivia Yacé, 23, of Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire almost won Miss World 2021. She is the second runner-up of the 70th edition of the international beauty pageant.

Hosted by Peter Andre and Fernando Allende, the Miss World 2021 coronation night was held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 16, 2022. The ceremony featured performances by Miss World 2019 Toni Ann Singh, 26, of Jamaica and the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra.

Singh has the longest Miss World reign. She was not able to crown her successor in 2020 and in 2021 due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Peter Andre and Fernando Allende hosted the coronation night. Among the judges were Giselle Laronde, 58, of Trinidad and Tobago, Jacqueline Aguilera, 45, of Venezuela and Vanessa Ponce, 30, of Mexico, who won the title in 1986, 1995 and 2018, respectively.

From 97 candidates, only 40 quarterfinalists were selected to compete during the coronation night. In the end, Karolina Bielawska, 21, of Łódź, Poland was crowned Miss World 2021.

Runner-up to Bielawska is Shree Saini, 25, of Seattle, Washington, United States. Carla Yules, 25, of Surabaya, Indonesia, Karolina Vidales, 24, of Jiquilpan, Mexico and Anna Leitch, 27, of Cookstown, Northern Ireland finished in the Top 6.

Saini was also chosen as the Beauty with a Purpose ambassador. Vidales won the sports event on December 1, 2021 while Yacé won the Top Model competition on December 6, 2021.

From February 2016 to June 2016, Yacé worked for Eolis Abidjan in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire as an assistant event coordinator. From 2016 to 2020, she attended Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in marketing.

From February 2019 to September 2021, Yacé was a Monat Global market partner. On September 4, 2021, she competed against 23 other candidates at Miss Cote d’Ivoire 2021 at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan and won the title.
