Miss Eco International 2022 is Kathleen Joy Paton, 24, of Aklan, Philippines. She was crowned at the Jolie Ville Resort & SPA kings Island Luxor in Luxor, Egypt on March 17, 2022.
The Miss Eco International 2022 coronation night featured a performance by Nour Abdel Salam. The judges were Dr. Amaal Rezk, Fatma Elshazly, Hend Farouk, Hoda Kamal, Mahmoud Ghali, Dr. Bahy Hany, Farah Shabaan, Dr. Hossam Tahseen and Simone Kamel.
Including Paton, a total of 40 candidates competed for the crown. It is the seventh edition of the international beauty pageant.
Runner-up to Paton is Chloë Reweghs, 22, of Belgium. Jesaura “Jessy” Peralta of the United States, Lucia Morales of Spain and Prasana Shri, 24, of Malaysia are the respective second, third and fourth runners-up.
Before winning the Miss Eco International 2022 crown, Paton won the Best Eco Video award. In the video, she said, “Due to our geographical location, we are visited by an average of 20 typhoons and storms a year, wreaking havoc wherever it lands.”
“Scientists around the world agree that climate change has a huge impact on typhoons,” Paton continued. “That’s why my aim as Miss Eco Philippines is to inspire people to join this movement and educate them in saving our planet Earth.”
Paton is the second Miss Eco International from the Philippines. The first one is Cynthia Magpatoc Thomalla, 27, of Southern Leyte, Philippines, who was crowned in Cairo, Egypt on April 27, 2018.
Born in Boracay, Malay, Aklan to an Australian father and a Filipino mother, Paton grew up in Aklan but moved to Australia in 2006. She has three older sisters.
Representing Visayas, Philippines, Paton won Miss Teen International 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand on September 23, 2017. Prior to this, she was Miss Teen Australia 2017 first runner-up.
On June 26, 2018, Paton was crowned Miss Manila 2018 in Ermita, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines, besting 30 other candidates. On October 3, 2021, she competed against 43 other candidates at Miss World Philippines 2021 in Olongapo City, Philippines and ranked second, winning the Miss Eco International Philippines 2021 title.
The Miss World Philippines 2021 title was won by Tracy Maureen Perez, 28, of Cebu City, Philippines. She finished in the Top 16 at Miss World 2021 in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 16, 2022.
