  10. On January 7, 2022, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office took to social media to share a video of him giving advice on avoiding buying a stolen vehicle.
  11. At around 8:35 p.m. on March 31, 2022, he and his wife were walking back to their truck outside the Joe V’s Smart Shop on Aldine Westfield Round in Houston, Texas when he saw two men under his truck trying to steal the catalytic converter. He asked his wife to stay back as he approached the burglars’ car, which at that point had three men inside. One of the three men started shooting and hit him several times. He was able to shoot back, hitting at least two suspects namely Joshua Stewart, then 23, and Fredarias Henry Clark, then 19. He, Stewart and Clark were transported to Houston Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
  12. He was off-duty when he was fatally shot on March 31, 2022. That night, he and his wife went to the Joe V’s Smart Shop to shop for groceries as they prepared to host a cookout to celebrate his sister’s birthday on April 1, 2022.
  13. He died at the age of 51.
