Amara Marluke of Portland, Oregon, United States has died. She was 19.
As a child, Marluke lived in foster homes. In 2011, she was adopted by Bradley Marluke and Amy Marluke.
In 2021, Amara and Keenan Harpole, 20, of Bend, Oregon started dating. They both attended Portland State University in Portland.

Amara and Harpole were in an on-again, off-again relationship. She was a music student while he was a football player.
On April 3, 2022, Amara visited her uncle Andrew Henricksen and her aunt Melanie Henricksen for dinner. At the end of the night, Andrew and Melanie gave Amara a ride back to the teenager’s Portland State University campus apartment.
Amara’s plans included doing laundry at her apartment and getting ready for the week ahead. She planned to meet up with Harpole, which she did not mention to Andrew and Melanie.
At around 1:00 a.m. on April 4, 2022, Amara was fatally shot near the university campus. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
After being contacted by law enforcement later that day, Harpole turned himself in to members of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office in Bend. Deputies took him back to Portland.
At 7:01 p.m., Harpole was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center in Portland where he is being held without bail. During a brief court appearance, he entered a preliminary not guilty plea to second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, which are both related to domestic violence.
