A little more than an hour after the shooting, he was apprehended by Los Angeles Police Department officers, who responded to another reported shooting at another residence in the Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles. On a jail phone call after the arrest, he bragged to a female friend about shooting Avant. He asked the friend, “You think my mama’s seen that?” In the same conversation, he said, “I’m gonna get out of jail. I’ll probably do like 20, 25, get out, you feel me?”
