Stephen Weiss, 60, of Pepper Pike, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States is a rabbi. In April 2001, he started leading B’nai Jeshurun, a congregation on Fairmount Road in Pepper Pike.
According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Weiss had explicit chats on social media with an undercover investigator posing as a boy aged 15. On April 18, 2022, the rabbi went to a pre-arranged location in Newburgh Heights, Cuyahoga County to engage in sexual activity with the purported child.
That day, Weiss was met and arrested by Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force officers. The officers found a box of condoms and two bottles of lubricant in the rabbi’s vehicle.

Represented by Michael J. Goldberg of The Goldberg Law Firm in Cleveland, Ohio, Weiss was charged with one count each of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, importuning and possessing criminal tools. On April 19, 2022, the rabbi posted a $50,000 bond.
As a condition of Weiss’s release from jail, he is required to wear a global positioning system (GPS) standard monitoring device. Also on April 19, 2022, B’nai Jeshurun suspended Weiss from his position as the senior rabbi and barred him from the premises.
Pepper Pike was incorporated as a city in 1970. It is home to Ohio’s oldest Catholic women’s college Ursuline College, a liberal-arts school founded in 1871.
