Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, 35, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States was one of the winners at the Professional Fighters League event “PFL 3: 2022 Regular Season.” It marked his first win in the mixed martial arts promotion based in the U.S.
Featuring 11 MMA fights, “PFL 3: 2022 Regular Season” was held at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas, USA on May 6, 2022. In the ninth bout of the evening, Pettis fought Myles “Magic” Price, 33, of Kilkenny, Ireland in the lightweight division.
Gary Copeland served as the referee. He stopped the lightweight contest when Pettis submitted Price via triangle choke after 4 minutes and 17 seconds.
The victory improved Pettis’s professional MMA record to 25 wins and 12 losses. On the other hand, Price now has 11 wins and 8 losses.
Including the U.S. and Ireland, a total of 12 countries were represented at “PFL 3: 2022 Regular Season”. The others were Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine.
Price solely represented Ireland. Pettis was one of the six athletes who represented the U.S.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Pettis is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent. He made his professional MMA debut in 2007.
From 2011 to 2020, Pettis competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. When he made his PFL debut at “PFL 1: 2021 Regular Season” at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA on April 23, 2021, he lost via unanimous decision to Clay “Cassius” Collard, 29, of Price, Utah, USA.
On June 25, 2021, Pettis went back to at the Ocean Casino Resort where he lost via split decision to Raush “Cavalo de Guerra” Manfio, 30, of Sao Paulo, Brazil at “PFL 6: 2021 Regular Season“. After submitting Price at “PFL 3: 2022 Regular Season”, Pettis called out both Collard and Manfio.
