Mexicana Universal 2021 Débora Hallal, 26, of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico will crown her successor at the Centro de Convenciones de San Luis Potosi in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on May 21, 2022. It is the fourth edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Mexico’s Miss Universe, Miss International, Reina Hispanoamerica and Nuestra Latinoamericana Universal candidates.
Currently, Mexico has three Miss Universe crowns, which were won by Lupita Jones in 1991, Ximena Navarrete in 2010 and Andrea Meza in 2020, and two Miss International crowns, which were won by Priscila Perales in 2007 and Anagabriela Espinoza in 2009. The country also won Reina Hispanoamericana in 2008 via Laura Zúñiga, who was later dethroned, in 2019 via Regina Peredo and in 2021 via Andrea Bazarte.
Hallal is Mexicana Universal 2020 first runner-up. After Mexicana Universal 2021 was cancelled due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, she was appointed to represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2021, where she was unplaced.
