James Reid, 29, and Nadine Lustre, 28, both attended the Careless Music contract signing of Liza Soberano, 24, in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on June 20, 2022. Both Soberano and Issa Pressman, 25, signed as exclusive artists of the record label that day.

Both Reid and Lustre performed onstage during the event, which was hosted by Debbie Then. Lustre performed her single “Wait for Me“, which was released by Careless Music on October 29, 2021.

After the contract signing ceremony, Reid and Lustre had separate interviews with members of the press. In their respective interviews with CONAN Daily, he answered questions about the places he loves to visit while she shared her non-negotiables when it comes to love, friendship and work.

In 2017, Reid and Bret “KINGwAw” Jackson, 31, founded Careless Music. The record label’s debut release is Reid’s debut studio album “Palm Dreams“.

Reid wrote the lyrics of all the nine songs in “Palm Dreams”. The album has three collaboration songs namely “IL2LU” featuring Lustre, “On Top” featuring KINGwAw and Sam Concepcion, 29, and “Mean 2 U” featuring Kiana Valenciano, 29.

Currently, Reid serves as the chairman of Careless Music while the chief executive officer is Jeffrey Oh, who was present when Soberano and Pressman signed their contracts with the record label. The event was also attended by the label’s other artists namely Jolianne, Lesha, Massiah and the A-Team dance group.

“When we started, we were just friends hanging around, disrupting the music industry,” Reid said during the event. “It all started with a dream that I have for myself, my music, my career.”

Oh explained why their record label is called Careless Music. He said, “Truly being careless is truly being free.”

“That’s what Careless really means to us,” the Careless Music CEO continued. “It’s (the fact) that we never compromise on what we believe in. We never compromise on the music we want to make.”

Ogie Diaz, 52, became the manager of Soberano in 2011. His contract with her ended on May 31, 2022.

Careless Music has yet to announce details about Soberano’s upcoming projects as a recording artist. What the label confirmed was that Reid has an extended play set to be released in January 2023.

On March 20, 2022, Lustre appeared as a guest in Soberano’s podcast called “Open Mind“. Now that they are both Careless Music artists, it is not unlikely for them to release a collaboration song soon.
