He was arrested later that day.

  9. On May 4, 2022, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, animal cruelty, evidence tampering, two counts of child abuse and two counts of use of a deadly weapon.
  10. He was 28 years old when he appeared in court before Saunders County district judge Christina Marroquin on July 18, 2022. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 85 to 106 years more. His attorney Matt McDonald said he plans to appeal.
