Miss Universe Singapore 2021 Nandita Banna, 21, is crowning her successor soon. It is the third edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Singapore’s Miss Universe candidate under Miss Universe Singapore 2011 Valerie Lim‘s directorship.
Singapore started competing in Miss Universe in 1954. The country did not send a candidate from 1955 to 1957, from 1959 to 1960 and from 1962 to 1965 then started sending a candidate annually in 1966.
Currently, Singapore has three Miss Universe placements. Representing the Southeast Asian country, Kathie Lee Lee Beng finished in the Top 12 in 1983, Marion Nicole Teo finished in the Top 10 in 1987 and Banna finished in the Top 16 in 2021.
Banna was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2021 on September 17, 2021. The respective first, second and third runners-up were Kalynskye Adrian, Lila Tan and Mardhiah Azizan.
Before the coronation night, I correctly predicted Banna as the winner. I predicted Sharon Auxilia and Rachel Jumeidi Alexander as the respective first and second runners-up but both candidates were unplaced.
