William J. Morrison III, 59, of Huntington, West Virginia, United States owns a Subaru Forester. The compact crossover sport utility vehicle was introduced to the U.S. in 1997.
On August 17, 2022, Morrison lured a girl, 12, and a boy, 9, into his Subaru Forester, according to the Huntington Police Department. The Huntington man allegedly drove away with the two children in the SUV and offered them $20 to babysit a child.

One of the children started to cry and said they were afraid they were going to die. Morrison allegedly increased his offer to babysit to $100.
Morrison first asked the boy to exit the SUV then continued to drive with the girl as a passenger. The Huntington man ignored her requests to be let out but she was able to open a door and escape, according to her.
Neither the girl nor the boy knew Morrison. They were not harmed while occupying the SUV.
In the evening, detectives conducted searches of an apartment in Barbousville, West Virginia and Morrison’s house in Huntington. He was arrested and charged with two felony counts of kidnapping.
