Bronx, New York City’s Oshawn Logan accused of mugging NYPD officer Muhammed Chowdhury


Oshawn Logan, 18, of the Bronx, New York City, New York, United States and two others are accused of attacking New York City Police Department officer Muhammed Chowdhury, 48, of Castle Hill, Bronx while the victim was off-duty on August 23, 2022. At 10:50 a.m. that day, the officer was jogging near his home when he was jumped and pummeled allegedly by the three suspects.

Because of the blows, Chowdhury fell and cracked his head on the sidewalk. After stealing the officer’s cellphone, car keys and wallet, Logan and the two other suspects allegedly took off in a black Honda sedan.

The wallet held Chowdhury’s credit card and NYPD identification. The credit card was used to buy certain items at a store in the Bronx.


With a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, Chowdhury was hospitalized in critical condition. He was later placed in a medically induced coma.

On August 26, 2022, Logan was arrested in connection with the assault on Chowdhury. On the same day, it was confirmed that the NYPD officer was already out of a coma.

Chowdhury remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition. The other two suspects accused of brutally mugging the NYPD officer are still on the run.


Logan was charged with one count of grand larceny, one count of criminal possession of a weapon two counts of gang assault, two counts of assault and four counts of robbery. His bail was set at $50,000 cash, $120,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond.

If Logan posts bail, he will be required wear electronic monitoring apparatus. On August 31, 2022, the teenager from the Bronx will appear in court.
