Westminster, California’s Alexander Tung Cuu Le punches American Airlines flight attendant, arrested by FBI

Alexander Tung Cuu Le, 33, of Westminster, Orange County, California, United States flew on American Airlines flight from San José del Cabo, Mexico to Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California on September 21, 2022. He exited his seat around 20 after takeoff.

While flight attendants were conducting food and beverage service, Le grabbed a female flight attendant’s left shoulder from behind and asked for coffee. The Westminster man later grabbed both of her shoulders from behind, causing her to step back and put up a defensive posture.

After walking to the front of the airplane, Le loitered near the first-class cabin and sat in an unoccupied aisle near the wall dividing the aircraft’s first-class cabin and main cabin. He ignored a male flight attendant who approached him and requested that he return to his assigned seat.

Instead, Le stood up and assumed a fighting stance towards the flight attendant, swung his arm at the flight attendant and missed. After reporting Le’s behavior to the pilot, the flight attendant was punched in the back of the head by Le.

Several passengers witnessed the attack including one who was able to film it. After the attack, Le fled toward the back of the airplane where he was apprehended by other passengers.

Le was moved to a different row where his hands and legs were cuffed. Flight attendants used seatbelt extenders to restrain him to the seat because he continuously unbuckled his seatbelt.

As soon as the plane landed in Los Angeles, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Le. On September 22, 2022, the Westminster resident was charged with one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants.
