Robert “Robzilla” Valentin, 27, of Zurich, Switzerland is currently in Phuket, Thailand. He and Pietro “King Kong” Penini, 29, of Verona, Italy are set to co-headline an ARES Fighting Championship event in Paris, France.

“ARES FC 9” will be held at the Le Dôme de Paris – Palais des Sports in Paris on November 3, 2022. In the co-main event of the evening, Valentin and Penini will battle it out in the middleweight division.

A total of 10 countries are represented at “ARES FC 9” namely Argentina, Cyprus, England, France, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Russia and Switzerland. Valentin is the sole representative of Switzerland.

To prepare for “ARES FC 9”, Valentin trained at Tiger Muay Thai under the tutelage of Joseph “Leonidas” Henle, 39, of Ventura, California, United States. The Swiss mixed martial artist also trained with Darren “The Gorilla” Till, 29, of Liverpool, England, Vadim Nemkov, 30, of Stary Oskol, Belgorod Oblast, Russia and Anatoly “Spartak” Malykhin, 34, of Kemerovo, Russia.

Till has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship since 2015. Nemkov and Malykhin have been competing in Bellator MMA in 2017 and in ONE Championship in 2021, respectively.

When Valentin made his ARES FC debut at “ARES FC 4” at the Le Dôme de Paris – Palais des Sports on March 10, 2022, he was submitted by Akhmed Salamov, 29, of Paris. On June 26, 2022, Valentin bounced back by beating Remco van den Brink, 33, of Rotterdam, Netherlands via technical knockout at “Levels Fight League 5” at Studio Westergas in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

“I learned a lot from my first fight in ARES FC,” Valentin told me. “But my focus is on the future not my past. I just want to fight my fight and impose my style on my opponent, be violent, be creative and enjoy the moment.”

“ARES FC 9” marks Valentin’s second fight in ARES FC. It is also Penini’s second fight in the MMA promotion based in Paris.
