Four students of the University of Idaho in Moscow, Latah County, Idaho, United States were found dead in a house near campus on November 13, 2022. The Moscow Police Department is investigating the deaths as homicides.
Two of the victims are Idaho residents while the other two are from Washington, USA and Arizona, USA. Here are the details:
- Ethan Chapin, 20, Conway, Washington
- Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Rathdrum, Idaho
- Madison Mogen, 21, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
- Xana Kernodle, 20, Avondale, Arizona
Chapin, Goncalves, Mogen and Kernodle were close friends. They all had stab wounds and their bodies are now in Spokane County for autopsies scheduled for November 16, 2022.
There is still no suspect in custody. Investigators are following all leads and identifying persons of interest in the case.
Established on January 30, 1889, the University of Idaho is the primary research university in Idaho. The university offers 142 degree programs.
Art Bettge is the incumbent mayor of Moscow. The Moscow Police Department has yet to brief him on the recent deaths of for University of Idaho students.
“I do trust our police department to be honest about this,” The Spokesman-Review quoted Bettge as saying. He pointed out that investigators do not want the perpetrator to “know what’s coming along”.
