Christopher Scott Looney, 28, of Cameron, Moore County, North Carolina, United States is an active-duty U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He is a sergeant first class and a Special Forces communications sergeant with the 3rd Special Forces Group, according to 18th Airborne Corps spokesman Captain Matthew Visser.
On December 5, 2022, Looney was arrested. He was booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina.
Bail was set for Looney at $2.8 million. He made his first court appearance on December 6, 2022 and will appear in court again on December 28, 2022.
Looney was charged with second-degree exploitation of a child and solicitation of a minor by computer. He is also facing two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of statutory rape of a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and four counts of soliciting prostitution.
More charges may be forthcoming, according to investigators. The case is still open.
Fort Bragg was built in 1918. Its current commander is Colonel John Wilcox, who graduated from The Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, USA and earned his commission in the Military Police Corps in 1999.
