Stephen Laurel Boss was a freestyle hip hop dancer, choreographer, actor and television producer born in Montgomery, Alabama, United States to Sandford Rose and Connie Boss Alexander. Stephen was 6’0″ tall.

As a child, Stephen got his nickname tWitch from popping and ticking. He had a dog, a Jack Russel mix, named Krypto.

  1. In 2000, he graduated from Lee High School in Montgomery. He went on to study dance performance at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama and at Chapman University in Orange, California, USA.
  2. In 2003, he finished third in the MTV show “The Wade Robson Project” and a runner-up on the television talent competition “Star Search“.
  3. In 2005, he played a dancer in the short film “Gotan Mora“. In 2006, he played a flamboyant dancer in “Blades of Glory“.
  4. In 2007, he played a Maybelle’s Store dancer in “Hairspray.” In 2008, he finished in second place in the fourth season of the U.S. version of “So You Think You Can Dance“.
  5. In December 2009, he debuted on the comedy collective in several sketch-series videos.
  6. In 2010, he played Taz in “Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming“, Jason in “Step Up 3D” and Russell Leonard in “Bones“. In 2011, he played Dr. E in “The LXD: The Secrets of the Ra“.
  7. In 2012, he was a consulting producer of the television series “Ds2dio 360” and played The Beastmaster in “Touch” and Jason in “Step Up Revolution“.
  8. In 2013, he married his fellow “So You Think You Can Dance” alum Allison Holker, adopted her daughter and played a hooligans member in “Dead in 5 Heartbeats“. In 2014, he played Billy Donaldson in “Drop Dead Diva“, Jason in “Step Up All In” and Sam Carraway in “Prized” and was featured on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as a guest disc jockey.
  9. In 2015, he played Ethan in “Adventures in Love and Babysitting“, sweet tooth in “Two Bellmen“, Elijah in “Catching Fireflies” and Malik in “Magic Mike XXL“.
  10. In 2016, Holker gave birth to their son. In the same year, he played Doobie in “Love” and a police officer in “Ghostbusters” and appeared in “East Los High” as a celebrity guest choreographer.
  11. In 2017, he appeared in “Famous in Love“. In 2018, he hosted “TWitch, Please… Help Me Dance” and played Sho Nuff in “Modern Family” and Doug in “So Close“.
  12. In 2019, Holker gave birth to their daughter. In 2020, he became a co-executive producer of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
  13. On December 13, 2022, he fatally shot himself at the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, Los Angeles, California. He was 40.
