What West Edmeston, New York’s Lauren S. Brooks did in Corning between 2012 and 2016

Lauren S. Brooks, 51, of West Edmeston, New York, United States was arrested on December 22, 2022 the New York State Police out of Painted Post, Steuben County, New York announced on December 23, 2022. He is a former resident of Corning, Steuben County.

From 2012 to 2016, Brooks allegedly sexually abused a child while he was living in Corning. This is according to a case reported in June 2022.

The arrest of Brooks came after an investigation by the New York State Police and indictment by the Steuben County grand jury. The investigation is continuing.

Brooks was arraigned in Steuben County Superior Court in Bath, Steuben County. He was charged with one count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, 28 counts of third-degree rape, 73 counts of third-degree criminal sex act, 90 counts of second-degree rape and 225 counts of second-degree criminal sex act.

The West Edmeston resident was booked into the Steuben County Jail in Bath. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 property.

Corning is named after Erastus Corning, a financier and railroad executive from Albany, Albany County, New York. He was an investor in the company that developed the community, which was incorporated as a village in 1848 and as a city in 1890.

Bodybuilder and model Christi Wolf, 56, and former Major League Baseball player Greg Keagle, 51, were both born in Corning. Multinational technology company Corning Inc. is headquartered in the city.
