Ronald Cummings, 39, of Satsuma, Putnam County, Florida, United States is being held on no bond. He is in jail in Putnam County.
From 1989 to 2004, Cummings was in a relationship with Crystal Sheffield, now 37, of Glen St. Mary, Bake County, Florida. In 2004, she gave birth to their daughter Haleigh Cummings.
On February 9, 2009, he came home from work and found out that Haleigh was missing from their house in Satsuma while the girl was with her babysitter Misty Croslin, now 31, the babysitter’s brother Hank “Tommy” Croslin Jr., now 36, and Joe Overstreet.
In January 2010, Ronald, Misty, Hank, Hope Sykes, now 31, and Donna Brock, now 56, were accused of trafficking in pain pills and were arrested. On April 15, 2010, then Putnam County sheriff Jeff Hardy announced HaLeigh was most likely dead.
On August 20, 2010, Ronald pleaded guilty to three separate drug charges and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Neither her nor Misty was charged for the disappearance of Haleigh.
Brock and Ronald were released from jail on October 17, 2022 and on October 19, 2022, respectively. Sykes was released on November 12, 2022.
On December 25, 2022, Ronald was arrested again. He was charged with obstruction, resisting an officer with violence, battery on an officer, firefighter and/or emergency medical technician, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and trafficking at least 7g or more of Oxycodone.
