Singapore’s Nelson Loh, Michael Wong arrested in China, charged with forgery

Nelson Loh Ne-Loon, 43, and Wong Soon Yuh, 43, also known as Michael Wong, have been arrested in China. They are both from Singapore.

Wong is an employee of Loh, a director of Novena Global Healthcare Group. Novena Global Healthcare and Novena Life Sciences failed to file annual returns due on July 29, 2018 and December 9, 2019, respectively.

Loh and his cousin Terence Loh, 45, grew up in the same family home in Upper Bukit Timah in Singapore. They headed the Bellagraph Nova Group along with their business partner Evangeline Shen, 34, of China.

In 2019, Wong and Loh allegedly forged audited financial statements of NGHG and used those statements to obtain bank loans amounting to $13.36 million. In August 2020, Bellagraph Nova Group tried to buy the English Premier League club Newcastle United for $337.7 million.

In September 2020, Nelson and Wong left Singapore. Days after their departure, the police received a report that accounting firm Ernst & Young‘s signatures had allegedly been forged on some of NHGH’s financial statements.

Subsequently, warrants of arrest and International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) red notices were issued against Nelson and Wong. In 2021, the former was reportedly declared a bankrupt.

On December 24, 2022, Nelson and Wong were returned to Singapore. On December 26, 2022, they were each charged with two counts of forgery.
