Kayla Hamilton of Aberdeen, Harford County, Maryland, United States died at age 20. Born in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA to Sean Weakley and Tammy Nobles, Hamilton was diagnosed with autism.
From Virginia, Hamilton and her boyfriend, 22, moved to Maryland where she worked for Sephora. On July 27, 2022, a boy, 17, allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted her inside a mobile home at the Rancho Estates in Aberdeen.
Hamilton went into cardiac arrest and died. Her death was ruled as a homicide by strangulation.
According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the boy accused of killing Hamilton was listed in El Salvador as a member of the Malva Salvatrucha gang. Also known as MS-13, the gang was originally set up to protect Salvadoran immigrants from other gangs in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Born in El Salvador, the suspect is an undocumented immigrant residing in the U.S. His deoxyribonucleic acid was a match for evidence that was recovered at the crime scene.
On January 15, 2023, the Salvadoran teen was arrested without incident in Edgewood, Hartford County. He is being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center in the Bel Air North, Hartford County and was charged with first-degree murder, rape and robbery.
