Rigoberto Vasquez-Barradas, 24, of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, United States is accused of assaulting a pregnant woman. The Lexington Police Department did not release her identity.
The department also did not give details about the relationship between Vasquez-Barradas. However, the alleged crime was described as a domestic violence assault.
At 9:24 a.m. on January 20, 2023, Lexington Police Department officers were called to a hospital in Lexington for the woman. When they arrived, they learned that she suffered a miscarriage after being attacked allegedly by Vasquez-Barradas.
The officers arrested Vasquez-Barradas and booked him into the Fayette County Detention Center in Lexington. He was charged with first-degree fetal homicide, first-degree strangulation and second-degree assault-domestic violence.
Lexington was established in 1782 and incorporated in 1831 and is now the second most populous city in Kentucky. Known as the Horse Capital of the World, the city is home to two horse-racing tracks, The Red Mile harness track and Keeneland Association, Inc.
Actors Josh Hopkins, 52, and Farah Fath, 38, were both born in Lexington. The city’s incumbent mayor Linda Gorton, 74, assumed office on January 6, 2019.
