Daniel “Soncora” Marcos, 29, of San Miguel, Lima, Peru made his successful Ultimate Fighting Championship debut in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The undefeated professional mixed martial artist was one of the winners at “UFC 283“.
Featuring 12 bouts, “UFC 283” was held at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro on January 21, 2023. In the first bout of the evening, Marcos fought Saimon Oliveira, 31, of Balneario Camboriu, Santa Catarina, Brazil in the bantamweight division.
Fernando Portella served as the referee of the bantamweight contest. He stopped the fight after 2 minutes and 18 seconds in the second round.
Marcos knocked out Oliveira via knee to the body and punches. It was the second consecutive UFC loss of the latter.
The win improved Marcos’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Oliveira now has 18 wins and 5 losses.
Aside from Brazil and Peru, eight more countries were represented at “UFC 283”, which are Denmark, France, Mexico, Russia, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States. Marcos solely represented Peru.
On September 11, 2015, Marcos made his professional MMA debut at the 300 Sparta event “MMA 8” at Club Chiquian in Lima. He went on to win nine more 300 Sparta wins before going on hiatus from 2020 to 2021 amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
On September 13, 2022, Marcos competed at “Dana White’s Contender Series 2022” Week 8. He defeated Brandon “Superman” Lewis, 25, of Port Richey, Florida, USA via unanimous decision at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada, USA.
