  1. He is Michael A. McRae and Linda Gail McRae‘s son.
  2. Before moving to Lansing, he lived in Bear, New Castle County, Delaware, USA and Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.
  3. He lived in his father’s house in Lansing and worked at a warehouse in Lansing where he loaded refrigerators into delivery trucks.
  4. Both of his two siblings Michael S. McRae and Melinda M. McRae live in Delaware.
  5. He pleaded guilty to several charges including speeding, driving without insurance and other motor vehicle offenses in Eaton County, Michigan in 2006 and 2008 and in Ingham County, Michigan in 2007 and 2008.
  6. At around 1:30 a.m. on January 7, 2019, a police officer found him outside an abandoned building and stopped him for questioning. He acknowledged he had a gun without a concealed carry permit.
  7. At around 3:00 a.m. on June 7, 2019, he was arrested in Ingham County with a suspected loaded firearm in his car. He was convicted of possession of guns without a concealed carry permit and sentenced to up to 18 months.
  8. In October 2019, he was charged in Ingham County with possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, which he pleaded guilty to.
  9. On November 26, 2019, he was sentenced to to 12 months of probation and was barred from having a weapon of any type” during the term of his probation
  10. On September 13, 2020, his mother died of a stroke at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing at age 62. After her death, he quit his job at a warehouse and and stayed in his room all day playing video games, according to his father.
  11. In October 2020, six additional months were added to his probation to allow him to complete the terms of the probation order.
  12. In May 2021, he was released on probation.
  13. Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on February 13, 2023, he started opening fire at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, fatally shooting students Alexandria Verner, 21, Brian Fraser, 20, and Arielle Diamond Anderson, 19, and wounding five other students. At 11:35 p.m., he fatally shot himself. He was 43.
