Siu Kong Sit, 37, of Santa Ana, Orange County, California, United States was a teacher at Arnold O. Beckman High School in Irvine, Orange County. Aside from Santa Ana, he has lived in other parts of California including Irvine, Rowland Heights, Pomona, San Diego and La Jolla.
While employed at Beckman High School, Sit allegedly placed hidden recording devices in the all-gender restroom located near the school’s swimming pool. On February 27, 2023, a contracted maintenance worker discovered the devices and turned them over to administrative staff who called the Irvine Police Department.
Later that day, police officers responded to the school. After determining that it was Sit who put the devices in place, they arrested the teacher at the school.
Sit was charged with burglary, possession of or manufacturing child pornography and two misdemeanor charges. Based on additional evidence found on the devices, the Irvine Police Department is trying to locate additional victims.
Bail was set for Sit at $20,000. He was booked into the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
Arnold O. Beckman High School was established on August 30, 2004. It was named after Arnold Orville Beckman, a chemist, an inventor, an investor and a philanthropist.
Born in Cullom, Livingston County, Illinois, USA, Beckman died in La Jolla, San Diego County, California on May 18, 2004 at age 104. In October 1934, he registered the first patent for a complete chemical instrument for the measurement of pH for his acidimeter, which was later renamed the pH meter.
