Tomorrow X Together (TXT) will be the first K-pop group to headline Lollapalooza. The music festival held annually in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, United States started as a touring event in 1991.
Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, TXT has five members namely Taehyun, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, HueningKai and Soobin. On March 4, 2019, the K-pop group debuted with the extended play titled “The Dream Chapter: Star“.
Lollapalooza 2023
Joining TXT as the headliners of the Lollapalooza 2023 from August 3-6, 2023 are Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odesza, Lana del Rey, Karol G and The 1975. Among the performers are beedadoobee, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lesly Reynaga, Isabel Larosa, Sarah Kinsley, Danielle Ponder, Aidan Bissett, Dillon Nathaniel, Ingrid Andress, Tom Odell, Suki Waterouse, Joy Oladokun and Sudan Archives.
TXT is not the only K-pop group in the Lollapalooza 2023 lineup. Also performing is NewJeans, a girl group with five members namely Minji, Haerin, Hanni, Danielle and Hyein.
This makes NewJeans the first female K-pop group to perform in Lollapalooza. This is also the group’s first music festival in the U.S.
TXT, New Jeans
On January 20, 2021, Big Hit Entertainment, Universal Music Japan and Republic Records released TXT’s first Japanese-language studio album “Still Dreaming“. On February 12, 2021, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced that the album had sold more than 100,000 copies.
On May 31, 2021, TXT’s second studio album “The Chaos Chapter: Freeze” was released by Big Hit Music through YG Plus in South Korea and by Republic Records in the U.S. One of the songs in the album is “0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You)” featuring Seori.
Hybe Corporation subsidiary ADOR released NewJeans’ debut EP “New Jeans” digitally on August 1, 2022 and physically on August 8, 2022. The album has four songs namely “Attention“, “Hype Boy“, “Cookie” and “Hurt“.
On January 2, 2023, ADOR released NewJeans’ first single album “OMG“. The album has two songs namely “OMG” and “Ditto“.
