Denver, Colorado’s Austin Lyle found dead near his 2005 red Volvo XC90

Austin Lyle of Denver, Colorado, United States has died. He was 17.

Lyle was 5’5″ tall. He weighed 150 pounds.

Austin Lyle from Overland High School to East High School

A judge placed Lyle on probation. He was expelled from Overland High School for violating board policy.

In 2021, Lyle was arrested for possession of a privately made firearm, also known as a ghost gun, and possession of an extended gun magazine, which is also called a high capacity magazine. At the time, he was attending Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado.

In January 2023, Lyle transferred to East High School in Denver. He was under a certain agreement to be searched at the beginning of each school day as part of a safety plan that was a result of previous behavior.

Austin Lyle’s 2005 red Volvo XC90

At 9:50 a.m. on March 22, 2023, Lyle was wearing a green hoodie while being patted down by Eric Sinclair and Jerald Mason in East High School’s office area. Sinclair is the dean of culture at the school while Mason is a coordinator for restorative practice.

Using a handgun, Lyle allegedly shot Sinclair and Mason, who were rushed to Denver Health on Bannock Street in Denver. While Sinclair remains in serious condition, Mason was upgraded from serious to good condition and was released from the hospital.

At around 10:00 a.m., East High School was placed on lockdown. At around 10:30 a.m., Denver Public Schools announced that students of the school would be taken to a separate location where parents could pick up their children.

Just before 6:00 p.m., the Denver Police Department said that efforts to locate Lyle were ongoing. At around 9:00 p.m., he was found dead of an apparent suicide near his 2005 red Volvo XC90 car in a remote mountain area on County Road 68 in Park County, Colorado.
