Christian Katan Mansoor, 18, of Macomb Township, Macomb County, Michigan, United States is not a police officer. While driving a silver Bayerische Motoren Werke AG at around 11:00 p.m. on April 3, 2023, he flashed red and blue lights and tried to pull over a woman in Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Michigan.
What Mansoor did not know was that the woman is an off-duty police officer from Waterford Township, Oakland County. She followed him to confront him then identified herself as a police officer.
Mansoor claimed that he was a police officer from Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. When the off-duty Waterford Township Police Department officer asked him for identification, he said he needed to retrieve it from his car.
As soon as Mansoor got back to his car, he drove away. The off-duty police officer followed him to a trailer park in Shelby Charter Township, Macomb County but she lost sight of his vehicle.
Later, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Mansoor while he was switching license plates from his silver BMW to another BMW he also owned. He tried to flee but he was arrested after a short foot chase.
On April 5, 2023, Mansoor was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge of impersonating a public officer. He was released on a $5,000 personal bond.
Established on March 7, 1834, Macomb Township was named in honor of Alexander Macomb, the commanding general of the U.S. Army from May 29, 1828 until his death on June 25, 1841. He was horn in Detroit and he died in Washington, D.C., USA at age 59.
