Erika Renee Ponce, 39, of Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas, United States responded to a social media post of someone about spring break. Unbeknownst to Ponce, the person behind the post was an undercover detective pretending to be a girl aged 14.
Posing as a teenage girl, the detective asked on social media who wanted to chat with her. Ponce was told several times the girl was only 14.
Still, Ponce continued communicating with the supposed teen and sent her sexual messages. She arranged a meeting in Siloam Springs, Benton County on March 31, 2023.
Ponce offered to bring the supposed teen to her apartment for the weekend and would bring her back home. The woman also discussed prostitution but did not go into details.
When Ponce arrived at the location that day, Siloam Springs Police Department officers arrested her. She admitted to the officers that she talked about sexual actions with the supposed teen.
On April 6, 2023, bond for Ponce was set at $100,000. She was charged with internet stalking of a child, computer child pornography and sexual indecency with a child.
At 8:00 a.m. on May 8, 2023, Ponce will be arraigned before Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren. She is being held in the Benton County Jail in Bentonville.
