Marcy Suzette Nellis of Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania, United States has died. She was 76.

Born in Oil City, Nellis married Jerry E. Nellis Jr. on May 9, 1965. They have two children together namely Michael E. Nellis and Amy J. Still.

Marcy and David Allen Bosley, 59, of Oil City, did not know each other. The latter, who has a criminal history, was listed on Megan’s Law for a prior attempted rape.

On the evening of March 26, 2023, Marcy was reported missing. On the morning of March 27, 2023, she was found dead along a bike trail near the Clarion University – Venango Campus along the Alleghany River in Oil City.

According to an autopsy conducted in Erie County, Pennsylvania, Marcy was sexually assaulted. Her cause of death was asphyxiation due to manual strangulation.

A rape kit and shoe impressions found at the crime scene were among the pieces of evidence collected. Bosley immediately became a person of interest.

On April 6, 2023, Bosely was arrested and booked into the Venango County Jail in Franklin, Venango County. He was charged with homicide, rape by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault, kidnappings and abuse of a corpse.

On April 19, 2023, Bosely will appear in court. In 2000, he was convicted of aggravated indecent assault attempted rape and required to register as a sex offender.
