Messiah Nantwi, 21, of Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States is a member of the OTN Goodfellas gang. On February 21, 2021, he allegedly used a .22-caliber pistol to fire three shots at a New York City Police Department sergeant and two officers.
The officers, who were not injured, fired 31 shots back at Nantwi. He was injured, hospitalized charged with first-degree attempted murder.
Bond for Nantwi was set at $500,000. At the request of the defense, a judge lowered it to $300,000 and Nantwi was released after posting only $30,000 bail.
At around 4:45 p.m. on April 8, 2023, Nantwi allegedly fatally shot Jaylen Duncan, 19, of Queens, New York City at Madison Avenue and East 132nd Street in Queens. The victim was rushed to Harlem Hospital Harlem, Upper Manhattan, New York City where he was pronounced dead.
Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on April 9, 2023, Nantwi and Brandon Brunson, 36, of Brooklyn, New York City had an argument inside a smoke shop in Harlem. Wearing a dark jacket with an FDNY logo, Nantwi fatally shot Brunson in the head twice then fled.
How Nantwi shot Brunson was captured on the surveillance cameras of the smoke shop. It was also witnessed by seven people.
On April 11, 2023, NYPD officers arrested Nantwi. He was charged with two counts of murder, along with one count of criminal possession of a weapon.
