Oliver Waterfall of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, United States has died. He was 24.
In February 2023, Waterfall took to social media to share a photo of a marijuana plant and tagged Dennis Novoa, 27, of San Jose. In the caption, Waterfall wrote, “Shoutout to the homie Dennis Novoa for teaching me how to grow. Mush love.”
On the evening of April 11, 2023, Waterfall’s body was found in a heavily wooded area with steep terrain in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Highway 9, a two-lane highway that runs from Los Gatos, Santa Clara County to Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County. A coroner’s autopsy determined that he died from a gunshot wound.
On April 26, 2023, Novoa and Diana Ornelas, 22, of Santa Clara were arrested on suspicion of murdering Waterfall. The motive of the homicide was believed to be of a personal nature, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
Both Novoa and Ornelas were known to Waterfall. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office did not describe how the three knew each other.
Ornelas worked as a preschool teacher at Children’s Center of the Stanford Community in Stanford, Santa Clara County. She was fired after her arrest.
Novoa and Ornelas were each charged with first-degree murder. She was booked into jail without bail while his bail was set at $1 million.
