Karima Jiwani, 40, of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia, United States previously lived in Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia where she worked as a licensed cosmetologist. She is listed as the registered agent of S-A-J Food Mart, a company linked to a residence in Cumming.
Jiwani reportedly has a history of surprise births or concealed pregnancies. She has children whose ages range from grade school to near adulthood.
On June 6, 2019, Jiwani gave birth to a baby girl inside a vehicle. After driving for some time, she allegedly tied the baby in a plastic bag and dumped it on top of a pile of leaves and sticks along a wooded strip of land near Daves Creek Road in Cumming.
At around 10:00 p.m., a family heard the baby girl crying in the woods on Daves Creek Road and alerted Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who went there and found the baby alive. The newborn infant was called Baby India.
For three years, Baby India’s identity was unknown. In August 2022, deoxyribonucleic acid evidence led detectives to her biological father, who reportedly had no knowledge of her existence.
On May 18, 2023, Jiwani was arrested and charged with reckless abandonment, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder and first-degree cruelty to children. She was booked into the Forsyth County Jail in Cumming where she is being held with no bond.
Currently, Baby India is “happy, healthy and in a safe place”, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office confirmed after Jiwani’s arrest. No other details about the girl was released.
