Juan Hall Vasquez, 23, of Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia, United States is accused of possessing child sexual abuse materials. In July 2023, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation sent an Internet Crimes Against Children cyber tip about the materials to the crime suppression unit of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
Through the cyber tip, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to track down the internet protocol (IP) address and the address of the offender who possessed the materials. They found evidence that Vasquez was the offender and took out warrants on him.
Deputies were called to an unrelated event in which Vasquez was involved. They learned he had active warrants involving child pornography and arrested him.
Vasquez was booked into the Coweta County Jail in Newnan. He was charged with 12 counts of felony child exploitation,
When Vasquez made his first appearance in court on the charges, Judge Robert Stokely denied bond. Investigators have search warrants for all of his computer and mobile devices and depending on what they find, he may face more charges.
Newnan was named for Daniel Newnan, a politician and military commander was born in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina, USA. On January 16, 1851, he died in Rossville, Walker County, Georgia at age 70.
In 1828, Newnan was established as county seat of Coweta County. Both Major League Baseball player Will Smith, 34, and National Football League player Wil Lutz, 29, were born in the city.
