Salvador Ramos was born in North Dakota, United States but he lived in Uvalde, Uvalde County, Texas, USA with his grandparents. He attended Uvalde High School in Uvalde.
On May 24, 2022, Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, fatally shooting fourth grade teachers Irma Garcia, 49, and Eva Mireles, 44, and 19 children aged 7-11, before he was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent who responded to the school with a tactical support team. Ramos was 18.
On August 7, 2023, Ramos’s cousin Nathan James Cruz, 17, of San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas allegedly said he was planning to “do the same thing” as Ramos. A family member allegedly overheard Cruz trying to buy an AR-15 illegally.
Cruz was intoxicated and in a car with his sister when he allegedly threatened to shoot her in the head and stated that he would shoot the elementary school near their residence in San Antonio. The family lives across the street from the school.
It was Cruz’s mother who contacted the San Antonio Police Department to report his concerning statements. He was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail in San Antonio.
Bond for Cruz has yet to be set. He was charged with making a terroristic threat to the public and making a terroristic threat to a family member.
