Shawn Michael Lima, 34 of Raeford, Hoke County, North Carolina, United States was in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Liberty in North Carolina, USA.
A civil affairs team sergeant, Lima was assigned to the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, part of 1st Special Forces Command. Aside from Raeford, he has lived in other parts of North Carolina including Fayetteville, Spring Lake and Bunnlevel.
In June 2023, Lima allegedly sexually assaulted a minor. On August 18, 2023, the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division of a juvenile victim of a sexual assault.
Investigators found evidence that the sexual assault took place. On October 10, 2023, Lima was arrested without incident and taken in front of the Hoke County Magistrate.
Lima was charged with dissemination obscenity, second-degree forcible sex offense, four counts of crimes against nature, four counts of disseminating harmful material to minors, six counts of statutory sex offense with a child less than or equal to 15 years of age, seven counts of sexual battery and 11 counts of indecent liberties with a child. He received a $5 million secured bond.
Raeford is the county seat of Hoke County. The area in which the city is located was settled by John McRae and A.A. Williford in the 18th century.
Born in Raeford, Eric Maynor, 36, played in the National Basketball Association from 2009 to 2014. Canadian Football League player Detrez Newsome, 29, was also born in the city.
