Miss Universe Venezuela 2023 Diana Carolina Silva Francisco, 26, was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Luis Alberto Silva Cervantes and Ana Lina Francisco Mendes. Luis is Peruvian-Venezuelan and Ana is Luso-Venezuelan.
Aside from being a beauty queen, Diana is also an flight attendant, an environmental activist, a singer, an actress and a model. She also worked as a babysitter, a secretary and a production assistant in a ceramics company.
Diana describes herself as a passionate woman with a genuinely altruistic heart. She said, “I’m most proud of my resilience in my life.”
In October 2017, Diana represented Venezuela at Miss City Tourism World 2017 in Beijing, China and won the title. On August 12, 2018, she represented Lara at Miss Earth Venezuela 2018, competed against 23 other candidates at the Chacao Municipal Theater in Caracas and won the title.
On November 3, 2018, Diana represented Venezuela at Miss Earth 2018 and competed against 86 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She finished in the Top 8.
On November 16, 2022, Diana represented Distrito Capital at Miss Venezuela 2022 and competed against 23 other candidates at the Poliedro de Caracas in Caracas. She won the title.
On November 18, 2023, Diana will represent Venezuela at Miss Universe 2023 at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador and compete against 84 other candidates. If she wins, she will be the eighth Miss Universe from Venezuela following Maritza Sayalero in 1979, Irene Saez in 1981, Barbara Palacios in 1986, Alicia Machado in 1996, Dayana Mendoza in 2008, Stefania Fernandez in 2009 and Gabriela Isler in 2013.
On January 14, 2023, R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States won Miss Universe 2022 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, besting 83 other candidates including Amanda Dudamel of Venezuela. Dudamel was first runner-up.
