What did Phoenix, Arizona’s David Hanson say about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris?

David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, United States is accused of using a social media platform to post threats to murder 46th U.S. president Joe Biden, 81, and 49th U.S. vice president Kamala Harris.

On November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening statements. In one post, he wrote, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” 

The U.S. Secret Service warned Hanson posting such threats was a federal crime. On December 23, 2023, he posted another series of similar threats aimed at Biden and Harris.

On January 23, 2024, Hanson was charged with five counts of threats against the U.S. president and successors to the presidency and five counts of interstate communication of threats. On January 24, 2024, he was arrested.

On November 5, 2024, the 47th U.S. president and the 50th U.S. vice president will be elected. Biden is running for reelection alongside Harris.

Also running for U.S. president are Biden and Harris’s fellow Democrats Dean Philippines, 55, and Marianne Williamson, 71. From the Republican Party, the candidates are Donald Trump, 77, and Nikki Haley, 52.

From January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021, Trump served as the 45th U.S. president. He ran for reelection but on November3, 2020, he lost to Biden, who served as the 47th U.S. vice president from January 20, 2009 to January 20, 20217.
