Moraya Wilson of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia competed in athletics, cross country and snow sports before she became a beauty queen. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business marketing from RMIT University in Melbourne.

On September 1, 2023, Wilson competed against 23 other Miss Universe Australia 2023 finalists at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins in Melbourne. She won the title.

Runner-up to Wilson was Farida Singatoulina of Sydney. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Brooklyn Metropolis of Perth, Natasha Knox of Sydney and Breanna Monck of the Gold Coast.

Miss Universe Australia 2024 contestants

On September 5, 2024, Wilson will crown her successor at Crown Perth in Burswood, Western Australia, Australia. It is the 20th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the country’s Miss Universe candidate.

Currently, Australia has 21 Miss Universe placements including the coronation of Kerry Anne Wells and Jennifer Hawkins. The most recent one was achieved by Wilson.

On July 29, 1972, Wells won Miss Universe 1972 at the at the Cerromar Beach Hotel in Dorado, Puerto Rico, United States where she competed against 60 other candidates. On June 1, 2004, Hawkins won Miss Universe 2004 at the Centro de Exposiciones y Convenciones Mitad del Mundo (CEMEXPO) in Quito, Ecuador where she competed against 79 other candidates.

On November 18, 2023, Wilson represented Australia at Miss Universe 2023 and competed against 83 other candidates at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. She was second runner-up to Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
