At around 1:30 a.m. on June 12, 2024, Sanson was driving a Black Ford Explorer near 23rd Avenue and 86th Street in Brooklyn, New York City when he was stopped by New York Police Department officers. They noticed an obstructed license plate on the vehicle and arrested him.

The officers found in the vehicle a bullet-proof vest with an NYPD patch on the front and an orange Metropolitan Transportation Authority vest typically worn by workers in New York City subways. Also found were a New York City transit vest, NYPD uniform items, handcuffs, a large cache of weapons, a weighted whip, a stun gun, an expandable baton, heavy body armor, a 9-millimeter Glock, 100 rounds of ammunition, two axes and multiple knives.
