Jason Statham
Jason Statham, 57, plays the lead character in “A Working Man“. The action thriller film will be released on March 28, 2025 internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures and in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Born in Shirebrook, England, United Kingdom, Statham has been practicing karate, kickboxing and Chinese martial arts since he was young. His mother Eileen Yates Statham was a dancer while his father Barry Statham was a singer and a street seller.
For 12 years, Jason was a member of the National Swimming Squad of Great Britain. Representing England, he competed in the 1 metre, 3 metre and 10 metre events at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Henderson, New Zealand.
In January 2016, Jason and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley announced their engagement. She gave birth to their son Jack Oscar Statham on June 24, 2017 and to their daughter Isabella James Statham on February 2, 2022.
‘A Working Man’
“A Working Man” was directed by David Ayer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sylvester Stallone. Jason and Stallone co-starred in the film series “The Expendables” as Lee Christmas and Barney Ross, respectively.
Based on Chuck Dixon‘s 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade“, “A Working Man” is about Levon Cade, a former Royal Marines commando. Played by Jason, the character works as a construction worker in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Also in the cast are Isla Gie, 13, and Arianna Rivas, 23. Gie plays Levon’s daughter Merry Cade while Rivas plays Jenny Garcia, a teenage college student and the daughter of Levon’s boss.
When Jenny was kidnapped by human traffickers, Levon has to use his old set of skills to find her. The search for the missing teenager leads him to the discovery of a conspiracy of corruption and government agents’ involvement in human trafficking.
Among Jason, Gie and Rivas’s “A Working Man” co-stars are Michael Peña as Joe Garcia and Noemi Gonzalez as Carla Garcia. Also in the cast are Alana Boden as Nina, Andrej Kaminsky as Symon Kharchenko, David Harbour as Gunny Lefferty, Emmett J. Scanlan as Viper, Eve Mauro as Artemis, Jason Flemyng as Wolo Kolisnyk, Kristina Poli as Svetlana Kolisnyk and Max Croes as Karp.
Isla Gie and Arianna Rivas
Like Jason, Gie is also British. In 2018, she made her professional acting debut in the Cameron Mackintosh production of “Les Miserables” as young Eponine and then as Little Cosette.
From 2021 to 2022, Gie played Holly in “The Outlaws”, which is show on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K. and Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. In 2022, she appeared in two episodes of the Apple+ series “Slow Horses” as the daughter of Paul Higgins’ character Struan Loy.
Rivas starred in the Hmong-English film “The Harvest” in 2023 and in Kim O. Nguyen’s film “Prom Dates” in 2024. She was a member of the theatre at River Ridge High School in in Woodstock, Georgia, USA.
