Representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines, reigning Brave Combat Federation Bantamweight Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, has arrived in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is ready to defend his belt at “Brave 13: European Evolution,” which he is headlining with Frans Mlambo, 27, of Ireland.
Accompanying Loman in Belfast is ONE Championship fighter Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28. Also from Team Lakay, the latter is the former ONE Featherweight World Champion and the first one to hold the title.
As a young professional mixed martial artist, Loman has made history several times. He is the first Filipino fighter to enter the Brave CF cage and the youngest fighter in the promotion to be crowned a champion.
Moreover, Loman is the first and youngest professional fighter to defend his championship in the United Kingdom and the first MMA fighter from the Philippines to do so. Trained by Team Lakay head coach Mark “The Machine” Sangiao, 38, the reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion currently holds a professional MMA record of 9 wins and 2 losses and is still undefeated in Brave CF.
On the other hand, Mlambo is trained by John Kavanagh who is also the coach of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Champion Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 29, of Ireland. A former 2015 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Amateur World Championships gold medalist, Mlambo holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 2 losses.
“Brave 13: European Evolution” marks Loman’s first title defense. It also marks the rematch between him and Mlambo, who is training out of Straight Blast Gym (SBG) Ireland.
On September 23, 2016, Loman and Mlambo competed at “Brave: The Beginning,” the inaugural event of Brave CF. Competing in the preliminary card, Loman defeated Mlambo via unanimous decision.
With 14 bouts, “Brave 13: European Evolution” will take place at the SSE Arena in Belfast on June 9, 2018. Watch the teaser here:
