On June 23, 2018, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 42, of Mongolia is returning to the cage after going on hiatus for more than a year as he faces Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 34, of the Philippines at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.” The latter will be the third Filipino fighter to compete against the Mongolian mixed martial arts veteran.
Jadambaa’s first Filipino opponent was Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, who is also a former ONE Featherweight World Champion, and the second one was Eric “The Natural” Kelly, 36, the older brother of Edward. Both Banario and Edward are representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines.
On May 30, 2014, Jadambaa defeated Banario via unanimous decision at “ONE: Honor and Glory.” On July 2, 2016, Eric was knocked out by the Mongolian fighter via punch at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions.”
“I think he is strong, a good fighter,” Jadambaa said of Edward. “You can’t compare him with his brother. Stylistically, both of them are different. I have a tall order in front of me on 23rd of June.”
“ONE: Pinnacle of Power” will take place at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China. It marks the 10th time Edward is competing in the ONE Championship cage.
Currently, Edward holds a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 4 losses. In ONE Championship, he has 5 wins and 4 losses.
Edward is coming out of a historical victory. On January 26, 2018, the Team Lakay fighter knocked out Meas Meu of Cambodia at “ONE: Global Superheroes” at 0:21 of Round 1, which is still the fastest knockout in the featherweight division of ONE Championship.
