ABC News chief meteorologist Ginger Zee, 37, was very impressed when she interviewed Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, 25, live on “Good Morning America” on January 7, 2019. Wearing a yellow dress, the Filipino-Australian beauty queen discussed her passion for philanthropy and music in two minutes.
“In the Philippines, I work with an organization called Young Focus and what they do is they give access to quality education, which (is very important),” Gray told Zee. “Without NGOs like (Young Focus), those kids might never realize the dream of having an education and developing a love for learning.”
Zee was very happy about what she heard. The “Good Morning America” host described Gray as “gorgeous inside and out.”
Aside from philanthropy, Gray is also passionate about music. Growing up in Australia, she starred in local productions of “Miss Saigon” and was the lead singer of the jazz band in her school.
Gray holds a master’s certificate in Music Theory, which she obtained from the Berklee College of Music, premier music college and performing arts conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Zee asked the reigning Miss Universe whether or not her fans will hear her perform on a stage soon.
The idea apparently got Gray excited. She said, “Even as a Miss Universe, I would love to participate in a benefit concert or something like that to really merge my love for music and in giving back.”
“Well, obviously you’re perfect,” Zee told Gray. “And that’s why you won Miss Universe.”
The compliment made Gray feel great. The Miss Universe 2018 had no qualms laughing heartily live on “Good Morning America.”
The live interview on “Good Morning America” was part of Gray’s media tour in New York. She also appeared on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” where she was interviewed by Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
